ATHLEISURE WEAR: Anahit Ghazaryan, RING: La Solly Aurora Opal Ring

BEFORE YOU TAKE OFF SUNSHINE, THINK SIMPLE

If traveling, it’s best to simplify things. Easy beauty, such as baked real gel nails by Édgeu in a neutral color that looks great with everything, such as Ash Pink, will help you get ready quickly and on the go. Baked gel nails require the use of a LED lamp to cure them, which Édgeu sells on their website edgeuusa.com. Top nail expert Christine Reed suggests LED lamp options that dry one finger at a time for travel, as their compact size makes them extremely packable. She also suggests using adhesive-backed nail wraps for both nails and toes, such as those by Minx Nails, which don’t require curing, liquids, or drying time. To keep gel or wrapped nails in top shape, file the tips. Christine suggests packing nail stickers in case a quick touchup is needed. Try those by Olive and June or Ciaté London. And press-on nails work in a pinch. Try those by Olive and June or The Nailest.

With packing, less is more! Decant your favorite must-have beauty products into travel-sized containers. Most drugstores or beauty supply stores sell empty travel-sized containers. Place your travel-sized containers into a sealed clear plastic bag that zips closed just in case the air pressure changes or your bag gets crushed and some contents spill while traveling. Samples of beauty products are excellent for travel. If you travel a lot, buy duplicates of all of your favorite products in travel sizes, or decant them into travel-sized containers and keep them packed and ready to go in your luggage, so you don’t have to think about if you’ve remembered an item on your next trip.

Try to wear as little makeup as possible when flying. Wear a hydrating facial moisturizer, an eye cream, a lip balm, and a hand cream. The humidity on a plane is about 8%, and the humidity needed for healthy skin is about 40%. Focus on hydrating your skin and body, especially if your flight is long. To help keep your skin hydrated, bring a travel-sized bottle of facial moisturizer and/or eye cream, a lip balm, non-preservative eye drops, and a mini mineral water spritzer with you on-board your flight, and only drink water or juice on the plane. Salty snacks, alcoholic beverages, and drinks that contain caffeine, such as coffee and soda, can further dehydrate you. Pack healthy natural snacks in baggies, and bypass eating unhealthy food served on the plane. Freshen up your skin before you land with a travel-sized atomizer, then apply any extra makeup you may need before exiting the plane or airport.

TIPS:

* Pack beauty products that can multitask and use items that are readily available when traveling. For example, you can use hair conditioner to shave with and can exfoliate your face and lips using packets of white sugar from coffee shops, etc.

* Packing makeup or cleansing wipes may save you from needing to pack a liquid facial cleanser.

* Pack your tweezers. Many hotel rooms contain magnifying mirrors that help you see where you may have missed extracting any wayward facial hairs. NOTE: Look for brands like Tweezerman that sell stylish travel-sized tweezers.

* Bring sunglasses. Sunglasses are great at covering tired eyes post-flight and will protect your eyes during the day at your destination.

* If your skin gets extremely dry while flying, pat a thin layer of one-hundred percent shea butter onto the skin to help protect it from moisture loss.

* Use a cotton swab to apply a little Neosporin to the inside of your nostrils, which will help keep the skin on the inside of your nose from becoming dry and cracking during your flight.

SAIL AWAY TO AN ISLAND IN THE SUN: BEAUTY TIPS FOR THE BOAT OR BEACH

When on a boat or at the beach, protect your skin with a product that contains an SPF of at least thirty. Wear protective clothing, such as a hat, and keep your makeup simple. Wearing a full face of makeup while on a boat or at the beach looks inappropriate. If the weather is warm, forgo wearing cream-textured makeup products. They may smudge.

The following are suggestions for you while spending time at the beach or boating:

1: Apply a broad-spectrum sunblock in the morning, after you get out of the shower, so it has time to absorb and will provide your skin with better protection.

2: If you must wear foundation, wear the most minimal amount or mix it with sunscreen, and apply both in one step.

3: If you have a blemish, apply the most minimal amount of concealer to cover it, and set it with a little powder.

4: For a healthy glow, apply a little bronzer and/or blush to your cheeks and/or eyelids.

When you want to gain a healthy summer glow without makeup, self-tanners, or damage from the sun, look no further than healthy, conscious, and vegan Mayan Bronze Tanning Oil. This delicious-smelling product gives all skin tones a gorgeous glow. Mix with a 100% mineral sunscreen or apply overtop of 100% mineral sunscreen to look naturally and subtly golden bronze while staying protected outdoors.

5: Groom your eyebrows, and set them with a little clear browscara/mascara.

6: Get your eyelashes dyed before boating or hitting the beach, so you don’t need to wear mascara. Curl your eyelashes if you wish.

7: Wear a lip product that contains an SPF of at least fifteen. If your lip balm contains at least an SPF of fifteen, apply that first before applying any other lip products. In a pinch, you can apply a facial moisturizer that contains at least an SPF of fifteen to your lips before applying any other lip products.

8: Wear sunglasses during the day. Look for sunglasses with lenses that have both UVA and UVB protection, such as those by Prada (www.prada.com, @prada). Wearing sunglasses with UVA and UVB protection will help keep you from getting cataracts and other sun damage-related eye issues. Wearing sunglasses with dark lenses and/or polarized lenses will help keep you from squinting, which may help prevent wrinkles around your eyes. You can have your ophthalmologist replace the lenses in your favorite sunglasses with polarized lenses that not only provide UVA and UVB protection but provide protection from the sun’s glare as well.

9: Pack a few glamorous beauty products for going out at night such as a favorite lip color, mascara, and eyeliner.

ITEMS TO NEVER LEAVE YOUR SUMMER HOLIDAY HOTEL WITHOUT:

1: Lip balm. Besides hydrating your lips, a lip balm can highlight the tops of the cheekbones and/or eyelids to give them a dewy look.

To add the perfect touch of hydration and sheen to your lips, try Frost Cosmetics’ certified vegan Max Gloss lip gloss. Apply alone for a natural-looking juicy lip look or over other lip products to give your colored lip products a pop of shine. Frost Cosmetics gifted its Max Gloss lip gloss to the patrons of Restore Worldwide in a beautiful effort to support the wonderful, free medical services Restore Worldwide provides to children and adults with disfiguring deformities from birth, accidents, and diseases who can’t afford them.

2: Lip color that doubles as a blush and/or as an eye makeup product. NOTE: To learn how to choose your perfect blush color, see the article How to Wear the Freshest Spring 2023 Beauty Looks to Be Blooming Gorgeous.

3: A skin-perfecting concealer. A concealer in stick form is easier to apply when you’re on the go.

4: Powder in a compact. Blotting papers, facial tissues, and/or toilet seat covers from public restrooms will work to blot away excess oil from the skin.

5: A small mirror. This item is unnecessary if your powder compact contains one.

6. Mineral sunscreen.

OPTIONAL ITEMS TO NEVER LEAVE YOUR SUMMER HOLIDAY HOTEL WITHOUT:

1: An eyebrow pencil. An eyebrow pencil can also be used as an eyeliner pencil and/or as an eye makeup product in a pinch.

2: An eyelash curler. An eyelash curler will give your eyes a polished wide-eyed look with or without the use of mascara.

3: Mascara.

4: Band-aids. These are great to have on hand for the occasional blister.

5: A few hair ties if you have long hair.

6: A bottle of water. Go green, and refill your water bottle. Besides helping to save the environment, it will also save you money.

7: A sample or travel-size of your favorite fragrance.

8: A travel-sized water atomizer to freshen up your skin. Most drug stores sell travel-size spray bottles. Fill your atomizer with purified water, rosewater, chamomile tea, water mixed with witch hazel, etc.

9: Any other makeup products you may need. Everyone’s personal beauty product needs are different.

WHEN YOU’RE AS HOT AS YOU ARE, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS STAY COOL AND HYDRATED:

While looking your most fashionable for summer, stay hydrated and refreshed by sipping fresh and healthy beverages, such as detoxifying lemonade or limeade. To make detoxifying lemonade or limeade while on the go, squeeze an organic lemon or lime into a glass with ice, add flat mineral water or sparkling mineral water, and a natural, healthy sweetener to taste, such as organic agave or stevia. Stir and enjoy!

Have a safe, fun, and happy summer holiday!
