Books, Music, and the Art of Getting Lost in Something Beautiful

There’s something sacred about the way summer holds a story.

The way a paperback bends in the sand beside you. The way a voice in your headphones feels like it’s speaking just to you as the plane ascends, or as you float in a pool, weightless and whole. This is the season of immersion—not in busyness, but in beauty.

We don't read or listen just to pass time.
We do it to remember who we are in the quiet.
To disappear and come back softer.

A Book Tucked in Your Bag, and Time That Waits

There’s a very specific kind of magic in finding the right book at the right moment. The one that reads you as much as you read it. The one you tuck in your tote bag on the way to the beach, or leave face down beside a hammock. The one that makes you miss your stop, or stay out in the sun just a little longer.

This summer, we invite you to find that book.

Maybe it’s lyrical and luminous like The Breath Before Becoming—a meditation on transformation, grace, and quiet becoming. Or maybe it’s something heart-stirring and plot-driven, a novel that makes you fall into the lives of others so completely, you forget your own edges for a while.

Bring it with you. Let it find you.
On a blanket. On a plane. On a dock with your feet in the lake.
Because summer books don’t ask for urgency. They ask for space.

Soundtrack of the Season

And then there’s the music—the sound of a summer unfolding. We’re not talking about playlists engineered for algorithms. We’re talking about voices that hold you, melodies that feel like sun on skin, and lyrics that know your secret names.

This summer, try listening to someone new.

Let Sam Barber accompany your golden hour drives. Let an acoustic set by a local artist surprise you in a river town café. Revisit the voices that raised you, and fall into the ones you’ve never heard before. Let music find you the way light finds water—easily, fully, everywhere.

Great summers are scored like great films.
Make yours unforgettable.

Create Your Own Club

Don’t wait for a formal book club to form. Create one, even if it’s just for you and a friend. Pick a book, bring two copies, and gift one to someone you love. Read on vacation together. Share favorite passages over morning coffee. Write in the margins like you’re leaving love notes.

Let it be casual. Let it be alive.
Let it be a conversation, not an assignment.

Books are meant to be shared. And summer is when we have time to.

Something for the Soul

This is the season to find the stories that move you. The music that lifts you. The words that root and rise within you.

You don’t need a packed schedule. You need a packed heart.

So take that book. Turn it over in your hand. Let it begin on the flight, continue by the pool, pause with your breath, and finish as the sun sets.

Let that song play on repeat until it becomes part of you.

And in the moments when you forget who you are, let these pages, these notes, these voices… bring you back.
